Got Fruit?

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. —Galatians 5:22-23

Post  Joseph Sun Jun 21, 2009 4:32 am

Hello team, good meeting today guys....Lets not worry as sayah talked about today, do not worry. All we have to do is trust in God. We trust in him right,amen...ok...so today i decided to do my devotions on Matthew chapter 7. And in this passage, the thing that came up my mind was prayer. And the verse that stood up to me was verse 7.

It says, " Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks revieves; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. So in this passage, as i sayed it kind of talks about prayer. It doesnt exactly talks about the word prayer, but its more like a message and a key point. When it says " Ask and it will be given" thats basically praying. You know when we pray, were basically asking for something from God right? So in this passage, God is saying to pray more often, because prayer is the key to everything. We pray because there are times where we need help, well most of the time. And praying to God is the best thing you can do. If you need help who would you usually ask, God right. Most of the time would be during your prayer times. In verse 7 it says that if you want an answer or help from God you need to pray right? And when you pray you cant just pray once and sit their and wait for something to happen. No, its best to pray everyday, doesnt matter how long it will take. No matter what you pray for, as long you continue to pray for that same reason, the Lord will answer. It can be years and years, all we need to do is to be patient. And speaking of patience, are theme is the fruits of the spirits right? And patients is one of those fruits. As it says in Galations 6 verse 22 i believe. It says, But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, PATIENCE, kindness, goodness, faithfullness, gentleness, and self control. God has given us all these commandments, and patience is a thing we all need, if you are waiting for an answer from you prayers. So as i was saying, prayer is so important. It is one of the best ways to talk to God. And it doesnt realy matter how you pray, as long you can understand what the Lord is trying to tell you. So keep this in your mind, prayer is the key. Prayer is good, amen?

    AMEN........................................

have a good day everyone, cya tomorrow

I read Romans 1 today, and verse 17 stuck out to me. "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." I have a devotions book, and it talked about us Christians sometimes getting comfortable with the place at which we are in our spiritual walk with God. Faith, I think, is something that can endlessly grow as we worship, serve, and learn more about God.

Through native missions, the main goal for me is to bring heaven to the natives at the reserve. And in addition, I want to stretch myself in my devotions, preparation for missions, and being committed to do God's will so that my faith is stretched a little bit more.

Proverbs 16:3Commit to the LORD whatever you do,
    and your plans will succeed.

I have a feeling we haven't been praying enough, not just missions, but praise team and in general we haven't been. How many times do you pray to God, let alone think about Him? I think we can all say there isn't ever ENOUGH. If we put everything we have, desire, need and what is to accomplish into God's hands, he would provide FOR SURE. Remember we're doing this for God, not for anyone else, in the end it's to glorify God, so if we don't have our hearts with God, then it's not needed anywhere else, it's pointless. BUT if you put everything into him, God will make way, just have faith and know that he can answeer. Just like Joe's devo, call and he'll give it to you.

    Children and Parents

1"children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right"

I think that it is really important for us to listen to our parents when they are talking about spiritual stuff, like Sam mentioned before women should submit to the man (hahahaha) but when it is necessary, same with us, i think our parents sound wrong to us but they have good intentions. hey everyone pale
good job at our meeting today
i know we talked about a lot of stuff
but thank you for contributing and being patient with all the craziness
    hehe

so today i read ephesians 4
after reading it i felt like the both sections really spoke to me. so i dont know if im allowed to do this haha but i want to think and reflect on the first part today and do the second part tomorrow. is that ok?.. ya but anyways. here i go.

so the first part was about unity in the body of christ. at western, im actually on kcf exec next year and this passage is actually our vision for the year. i think it talks about a lot of important elements for a team, any team. in the beginning paul talks about our calling- that we must live of life worthy of the calling we have received from God. we must be humble and gentle with patience and showing love. and do everything to keep peace. we all got a calling to go on this missions trip and we must live a life worthy of this mission we were called to do- not only on the reserve should we act this way, but also in our daily lives.

if you read this passage (which i hope someday you guys will), youll notice that paul uses the word "one" a lot and i mean A LOT. he says one body, one spirit, one hope, one lord, one faith, one baptism, one God etc. he really emphasizes unity and "one-ness." i thought about this and tried to form all these things into one expression- and this is what i came up with. we are united in one body with one hope through one spirit and by one faith in one God. something along those lines. obviously as a team, we have to be unified. but this unity should come from the love and faith we have in God and we must be unified in God.

then paul tells us that God called us to be different things, to take on different roles. as we know, everyone on this team is different and we all bring something different to the table. and this diversity makes our team stronger. but again, with all our different gifts, we must use them for one purpose- to bring glory to God's name. and we must be unified in faith while doing this and trying to understand the whole measure of the fullness of God.

when we're unified in God, we will no longer be swayed by the ways of the world- by the way people judge us or try to alter our thoughts. we will be able to speak the truth, the right way, in love and we will be able to grow in Christ, our head. then we will be one body in christ, and we will continue to grow in love as we are joined together by the different parts. so all of us are united as one body in love in christ. and we have to do our parts for this "body" to work. and we must be strong so that we will be able to stay strong and resist the deceitful ways the world will attack us. when this happens, as a body and with the love and knowledge we have, we must speak the truth and share that with them. this will allow us to grow as well. i realize this is not easy, to stay strong. then we can look to God for help and strength, and he will be at our side, guiding us every step of the way.

so im studying for my exam on monday.
and its not looking so good.
but just like joseph said, i will pray to God and trust and be patient.
and study a lot more haha.
    see you all tomorrow!!

so im studying for my exam on monday
and its not looking so good
    haha

    hey everybody rabbit

    today i read philippians 3:8-10
i thought about how people are so materialistic these days and money (mostly), and other things are the first priorities in thier/our lives. These verses reminded me of how tiny and useless everything is compared to knowing and accepting Jesus Christ, because in the end all that matters is God right? And the things we have with us won't be with us anymore after we die. Also, if things in our life are more important than God, and God gave us the things in our life, then logically, that wouldn't make sense and God should automatically be WAY more important than the things we have. I know that people worry about having the things they need to survive, but if they have the faith that God will provide, there wouldn't be a worry about having materialistic things because God gives us everything. We're not perfect, but we can try our best. Very Happy Having God in our lives is the most great and awesome thing we have, soooooo much better than money, games, etc. And also not being righteous of myself but having a righteousness that comes from faith in Christ is better than awesome. I don't even think i could get my head around how great and powerful God is and how important he is to me and us. These verses make my awe of God grow and makes me want to build my relationship with God even more and pray even more and share with others (Natives) even more. I love you
He will always be there no matter what, even if were dirt poor. cheers

    see you all tommorow! sunny

    HOLLA,

I started reading timothy 1 today, because it's Paul giving letters of advice to young Timothy. I thought there could be a lot to learn from this interaction, and I could consider myself a bit of Timothy, because I know that Paul is a man of such wisdom and there's a lot to be learned from his word.

    Timothy 1

    1. The first part that stuck out to me is when Paul extends his gratitude for God's mercy by saying:

15 This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. 16 But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners.

As most of you may know, Paul used to be a great persecutor of Christians before God came to him and as much as this verse was personally specific to how Paul felt, I think we can all relate. How powerful is that? "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners - and I am the worst of them all". Paul may consider himself the worst, and the world might look at him that way too, given his record of persecuting Christians, but all sin has equal measure in God's eyes, so we technically could all validly consider ourselves 'the worst'. I think the minute we can begin to think about it in such a drastic way, it becomes all the more humbling, and we find all the more to be so thankful to God for.

    2. 18 Timothy, my son, here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier. May they help you fight well in the Lord’s battles.

This verse just reminded me of how powerful our knowledge of the Word can be, because it's our knowledge of God that will help us in "fighting the Lord's battles". That's also a good way to think of it. As a missionary, you never have control over what obstacles are going to come your way in the fight for God, but you have full control of the preparation you put into it. Are you going to fight with sticks or with brandished swords? Smile

    Colossians 2 Verse 5
For even though I am absent in body, nevertheless I m with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good discipline and the stability of your faith in Christ

What I got out of this verse..kinda talking to myself:
The stability of my faith in Christ is unstable. therefore he must not be rejoicing. however, he's still with us...nevertheless.
to beee with us. But why do I feel like hes not there and that if anything, its me turning to him and going to him and just praying

you know its funny, during low times we blame Jesus for not being there
during high times we praise him

sooo lets change that and why not just praise Jesus both during low and high times.

Praise the Lord. Just remember, its what you do to get yourself through the hard times...true, you may have more low than highs but that just may be for the time being . i mean, you look back 5 years ago and those days when you felt depressed, its so laughable now.

    WuZzUp- DeVoTiOn TiMe.............................. Empty Devo~

Post  Daniel Mon Jun 22, 2009 5:20 am

Again...I forgot to do devo yesterday...haha

The passage I read today is Matthew 14:25-31

    25. During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.
    26. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear.

    27. But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."

    28. "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."

    29. "Come," he said.

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

    30. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"

    31. Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

This is the scene where Jesus is walking on water and coming towards the disciples who were on the ship. They were frightened to see Jesus walking on water and actually thought that he was a ghost. As he walks towards them, he tells them its him and don't be afraid. However, Peter's question in verse 29 shows that some disciples are skeptical about Jesus walking on water. This is the point where it shows that Peter's faith is weak and he needs a real proof rather than just words. Then, he walks on water for about few moments and he sees the tide and he loses control and he falls right into the water. When he was afraid of that tide, he began to sink. The main point is that we need to have faith in God, by trusting him. This year's theme is about the Fruit of spirit. One of it is faithfulness. Faith is important especially in this mission trip because when you have faith in God, amazing things will happen. That is because having faith means that you are connecting with God. This allows him to work through us. So, why don't we have faith in him? Not skeptical like Peter but have faith in Christ so that he may work through us during mission trip and I believe that amazing things are going to happen in this trip through each and everyone of us. ^^

    ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !
okay i forgot to post up my QT yesterday, so i did it today , just now, and what happened ?
    IT DIDNT POST!
i have to rewrite it all over again Sad

okay so yesterday i read this AWESOME letter between me and my mentor.
I was telling her how i felt bad because i wasnt getting my QT in with all my other stuff. I wasnt doing it daily and i was slacking off. I was telling her how i wanted to do it, and i knew i should but i never got to it !
And i was telling her that when i do, the bible amazes me EVERYTIME. When iread the bible, no matter how many times i do, its like reading it for the first time all over again. New verses pop out and i get new understanding and knowledge. Somtimes to the point where im like "HOW DID I MISS THIS?" Its truly a book you can never set aside. And along with that, she replied to me with this verse:
"heaven and earth will pass away by my words will never pass away" (Matt 24.35, Mark 13.31, Luke 21:33)

Im continuing on with my spiritual disciplines study.
QT itself is like a discipline.
it is something we must practice, and something we must put into a routine
    and i dont meant the
"ughh, i better get to it." and do it even if your mind and heart isnt really there. Making it something you have to do, but dont want to do.
I mean a routine where you know you have to do it everyday BUT you also enjoy spending that one on one time with God.

Some people do not know HOW IMPORTANT QT really is.
Some of us may not want to post up our QT everyday, and wondering "why do i even have to do this?"
Some of us do this ,well because we were told to by our leaders.

WE NEED TO KNOW HOW IMPORTANT QT REALLY IS !
It's not something that should be taken lightly.

So I remind myself of that song "Breathe". It says, "this is the air I Breathe, your Holy PResence living in me. This is my daily bread, Your very Word spoken to me." What happens when you don't breathe? What happens when you don't eat? YOU DIE. Or if you don't get enough of it... you'll have asthma, or you'll suffocate, or you'll be spiritually anorexic, or malnourished, or just surviving on fatty junk food. That's not good enough. That's not living to the full. Sometimes I feel that way. Like I can't breathe (spiritually), cuz I'm not being filed witht he Spirit of God. or that I'm so unhealthy because I only eat whatever is spoon fed to me (like sermons on Sundays or verses I memorized since I was a kid). I need a healthy diet of the Word of God. That song and that verse helps me to remember. I need to be desperate for Him. Because his spirit and word is the source of my LIFE!
