HOLLA
I am so tired and it's 9:15pm. I feel like a grandmother.
1 Timothy 4
8 “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.”
I really enjoy verse because it wonderfully compares training for godliness to that of physical training, like exercise. We live in a world that emphasizes the importance of regular exercising for a healthy well being, so how much more important must it be for us believers to practice regular spiritual exercise, as well? If you begin to draw parallels, things start clicking in your head: Akin to physical exercise, the more you indulge yourself in the Word on a regular basis, the more easy it will become, and the more your body will come to depend on it, etc. So the more we practice, the better we will get!
12 Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
Paul is talking to Timothy in these passages, and this verse reminded me of us, as young leaders in our ministry. Our age should not be a detriment to what we do, bc our actions will speak far louder than how old we are, as long as it's grounded in the Word. So let's go out and go get em'! It was a young boy who provided Jesus with the fish and bread to feed the thousands, and the disciples who healed and set people free in Jesus' name were about our age! Think, then, of all the amazing things God is willing to use us for, if we just let Him!
14 Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you. 15 Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress.
As members of a team, we are all vital parts of one body. With that in mind, let us take full advantage of our gifts and use them to their fullest potential, as God first intended. It says, throw yourself into your tasks, so never give anything short of your best, and we can do amaaazing things together!
